OUR HONOREES
Mike & Kelly Doyle
Mike Doyle is currently battling Leukemia, and his wife Kelly, is his primary caregiver. Mike and Kelly have been involved with Coaches vs Cancer through the Philadelphia School and Youth Initiatives program, which encourages student athletes, coaches, fans, parents, and local communities to become involved in the fight against cancer. For years, they have led the charge as a dynamic duo coordinating events at St. Mary Magdalen School and Penncrest High School in support of Coaches vs. Cancer. This year alone, they have helped raise over $12,000 in support of the CVC program. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support Mike and Kelly provide in order to advance the mission of the American Cancer Society. After Mike’s diagnosis, Mike and Kelly’s teamwork became even more apparent. Mike is an accomplished, and well respected teacher at Penncrest High School, who has celebrated over 200 career wins as head boys basketball coach. It so easy to see that Kelly is Mike’s biggest cheerleader on and off the court. They both speak with great optimism and never miss the opportunity to recognize one another for their constant love and support. It is very evident how well respected and loved Mike and Kelly are in their community, especially after the great deal of positive words and support they received following Mike’s cancer diagnosis. It is with all that positivity and support that cancer doesn’t stand a chance against Mike, Kelly, and their wonderful family. We are so excited to honor them as survivor and caregiver at our 2019 Tourney Tip-Off Breakfast.
Jim Fenerty
Jim Fenerty is also a longtime supporter of our Coaches vs Cancer School & Youth Initiatives program. A beloved athletic director for 22 years, and coach & teacher at Germantown Academy for the 30 years, Jim has achieved a great deal throughout his career—He was selected as Coach of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer, inducted in the Germantown Academy Athletic Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Athletic Hall of Fame-Montgomery County, and the Montgomery Coaches Hall of Fame. Jim is the third boys basketball coach in Philadelphia history to reach a 600 career win total. In addition, he has mentored 55 student athletes who went on to play college athletics after graduating from Germantown Academy. He is a remarkable example for all for all of his students and players of what it means to be a good person in and out of the classroom, on and off the court. Through his continued generous efforts supporting the Coaches vs. Cancer program, he has mentored many students and athletes, about what it means to serve the community. Jim has supported the Coaches vs. Cancer program for 30 years leading the charge at Germantown Academy with a love for basketball and a great deal of passion to crush cancer. We are so excited to honor his commitment to Coaches vs Cancer at our 2019 Tourney Tip-Off Breakfast.
